World Evidence-Based Health Care Day 2023 in Chile
Epistemonikos will host, for the second year in a row, an event to celebrate World Evidence-Based Health Care Day in Chile. The 2023 campaign focuses on Evidence and Global Health Equity.
The Epistemonikos Foundation and the Chilean Medical Association will host an event for World Evidence-Based Health Care Day 2023 with a focus on the equity perspective in health laws and public policies in Chile.
World Evidence-Based Health Care Day (worldebhcday.org) is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness about the need for better evidence to inform healthcare policies, medical practice, and health decision-making to enhance the quality of life for people worldwide. This initiative is organized by leading institutions in the field of evidence-based healthcare, including Cochrane, Campbell Collaboration, Guidelines International Network (GIN), National Institute for Care and Health Excellence (NICE), Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare (IEBH), JBI, and the Centre for Evidence-based Health Care (CEBHC).
The World Evidence-Based Health Care Day encourages the hosting of satellite events worldwide. In 2022, the Epistemonikos Foundation organized an event in Chile for the first time. The event featured panelists such as Dr. Paula Daza, former Undersecretary of Public Health, Dr. María Paz Bertoglia, president of the Chilean Epidemiology Society and Head of the Immunization Program at the Ministry of Health of Chile, Dr. Jeannette Dabanch, a member of the Advisory Committee on Vaccines and Immunization Strategies, Dr. Alexis Kalergis, a member of the Scientific Advisory Council for the Covid-19 Vaccine of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation of Chile, and Dr. Fernando Valiente-Echeverría, president of the Chilean Society of Microbiology and Deputy Director of the Virology Program at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of Universidad de Chile.
This year, the Epistemonikos Foundation and the Chilean Medical Association will host a satellite event in commemoration of World Evidence-Based Health Care Day, focusing on the theme defined by the organization: "Evidence and Global Health Equity". The event is officially endorsed and aims to highlight equity in health laws and public policies in Chile. It will also provide a platform for fostering discussions within the local community about the progress and challenges of incorporating an equity perspective into medical practice and evidence-based health decisions.
